Smartwatches are useful, but they have also made the wrist into a small office lobby: notifications, screens and another thing silently asking for attention while you are trying to sleep. The Oura Ring 4 takes a quieter route. It is a titanium ring designed for 24/7 wear, collecting heart-rate, movement, temperature and sleep-related measurements without requiring a watch-shaped billboard.

We think that restraint is the whole point. Oura has put the sensors inside the ring and recessed them, while the body measures 7.9 mm wide and about 2.88 mm thick. This is a health-adjacent gadget for people who would like some structure around sleep and activity, but do not require their bedtime accessories to resemble a tiny flight deck.

The practical proposition is strong on paper: a stated 5-to-8-day battery life, Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity, automatic firmware updates through the Oura App, and water resistance to 100 metres. Oura also says it can be worn for showers, swimming, snorkelling and saunas. That matters because a wearable that spends its life on a bedside table is merely an expensive coaster with ambitions.

There is, naturally, admin. Sizes run from 4 to 15, the dedicated sizing kit is meant for that range, and the charger is specific to the ring size. The Oura Ring 4 is worth buying when you want a low-screen way to build a consistent tracking habit and are prepared to treat fit as part of the purchase, not an afterthought.
