Why we picked it

The Samsung Frame is our Hero today because it's the only piece of consumer electronics that successfully hides the fact that I spend six hours a day watching reruns of Grand Designs. It is for the person who wants a high-end telly but has a partner who insists that a giant black rectangle "ruins the feng shui" of the sitting room.

I've spent the morning pretending I'm a cultured inhabitant of the Louvre, cycling through Renaissance masterpieces while I'm actually just waiting for the footy to start. The new NQ4 AI Gen2 processor is doing some heavy lifting, making everything look suspiciously crisp, as if the pixels themselves have been to a private school.

It's the Hero because it's the ultimate compromise between tech-obsessed utility and aesthetic snobbery. Even when it's switched off, it's working harder than I am, displaying a matte-finish Monet that almost-almost-convinces the neighbours I have a personality. It's peak "stealth-tech" for the design-conscious dweller.

The Irresistible

  • The Matte Display is a genuine revelation; it manages to kill reflections from my awkwardly placed lamps so effectively it looks like actual canvas rather than a glowing panel.
  • The Art Store integration is slicker than ever, allowing you to curate a digital gallery that makes you look significantly more well-read and artistic than your browser history suggests.

The Clever Part

  • The Slim-Fit Wall Mount is included in the box and lets the thing sit absolutely flush against the wall, which is vital for maintaining the "this is definitely a painting" illusion.
  • It uses a single, translucent "One Connect" cable for both power and data, meaning you don't have a catastrophic spaghetti mess of wires dangling down your pristine wallpaper.

The Fine Print

  • While the matte screen is brilliant for art, it can slightly dull the "pop" of high-contrast HDR movies compared to a traditional glossy OLED, which might irritate the hardcore cinephiles.
  • The customisable bezels are essential for the look, but they are technically an extra purchase, which feels a bit like buying a car and being told the steering wheel is a premium add-on.

The Reality Check

  • If you forget to set the motion sensor correctly, your "art" will stay on all night, illuminating your living room like a very posh, very expensive nightlight for the local burglars.
