That matters because the hub is required for remote app control, live status updates, voice control, Matter, IFTTT and SwitchBot automations. There is a small, unavoidable caveat: the cleverness comes with ecosystem admin. But a household after simple keyless entry may regard hubs, integrations and automation menus as exactly the sort of hobby it was trying to avoid.
