JBL Flip 7 Portable Bluetooth Speaker

The portable speaker has become a small domestic animal of modern life: it lives on the kitchen counter, gets shoved into a tote for the park, and eventually acquires a mysterious dust coating beside three dead charging cables. We think the JBL Flip 7 earns attention because it gives this familiar object a few properly considered extras rather than merely another colourway and a louder adjective. Its audio hardware is clearly specified: a 45 × 80 mm woofer and 16 mm tweeter, with a stated 60 Hz–20 kHz frequency response. More interestingly, JBL includes USB-C lossless audio playback when the speaker is connected to a compatible lossless source. That is a pleasingly nerdy option in a category usually built around pressing play and hoping nobody connects to it during dinner. The Flip 7 also uses JBL’s PushLock system. A loop and carabiner come in the box, and the selected blue bundle adds a Megen Hardshel protection case. We like this as a complementary pick because it acknowledges that portable audio tends to travel through backpacks, coat pockets, and the sort of car footwell where receipts achieve sentience. There is a boundary to the cleverness, naturally. The lossless feature needs the right source and a USB-C connection, so it is not a magic upgrade applied to every Bluetooth stream. Still, as a portable Bluetooth speaker with a defined carry setup and a wired-audio option, the JBL Flip 7 has more personality than the average desk-dwelling noise tube.
